Food Drive Huge Success
Hillsdale, Michigan - Hillsdale Community Health Center staff provided 100 turkeys to those in need within Hillsdale County this Thanksgiving season. Employees working in various units throughout the hospital donated turkey’s to three area food banks to provide meals during the holiday season! This year, the certificates were divided up between the Hands of Mercy Food Bank, Kings Kupboard and The Salvation Army; all serving the many needs within Hillsdale County. The hospital also sponsored a six week long food drive during October and November collecting enough food to provide for over 200 meals to hungry families this winter and received a $3,000 donation from a friend of the hospital to be used during the Community Foundation Match Day on November 30, 2012. Management team members led these initiatives and were supported by staff members who were encouraged to provide non-perishable items or financial contributions to replenish the food bank shelves in our community. One of the year’s highlight for giving back to the community is our annual community Thanksgiving meal prepared by dedicated hospital dietary staff and employee volunteers. This year, our hospital served 142 traditional thanksgiving meals free to community members, staff and volunteers. We are also excited to announce that during the past eleven months, our management team has donated over 2,150 hours to community service activities and events giving back to their community making a difference where they live and work. These initiatives aimed at helping those in need reaffirms our commitment that we are “Large enough to be of service…small enough to care”.
